About the Position: Scott AFB is located in the city of Belleville, IL, in St. Clair County, approximately 30 minutes from St. Louis, MO. All branches of service are assigned to the base. Transportation includes Metro Link Light Rail which runs from the St. Louis metropolitan area to Scott AFB, and convenient interstate and highways. MidAmerica St. Louis and Lambert-St. Louis International Airports are nearby. St. Clair County is surrounded by several major tourist attractions.

Responsible for the scope, content, accuracy, and execution of transportation planning studies, research projects, engineering, and analysis. Includes serving as an Agency structural engineering expert, with primary responsibility and focus in capacity analysis of road bridges.
Recommend program elements designed to address complex and critical transportation system problems involving the integration of defense strategic mobility requirements with ongoing transportation programs of local, state, and federal transportation agencies.
Identify and coordinate the collection of transportation-related data, to include the integration and application of geospatial information systems.
Apply highly sophisticated analysis techniques and write reports documenting and explaining basis of recommendations and guidance for application or implementation.
Review the work of others assigned to projects to insure that established policies are followed, highest technical standards are maintained, and objectives of the projects are satisfied.
Participate in meetings of national/defense transportation research and planning organizations.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR CIVIL ENGINEER - GS-0810
To qualify, applicants must meet one of the following Basic Entry Requirements and provide supporting documentation for verification:
Professional engineering degree from a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum. NOTE: THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY.
OR
Professional engineering degree with curriculum that includes differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statistics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress/strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.
OR
1. Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering, demonstrated by my current registration as a Professional Engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico.
2. Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering, demonstrated by passing the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the written test required for professional registration, which is administered by the Boards of Engineering Examiners in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.
3. Combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering, demonstrated by completion of 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements and must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of a Professional Engineering curriculum.
4. Bachelor's or higher-level degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology and I have one (1) year or more of Professional Engineering experience acquired under Professional Engineering supervision and guidance.
In addition to meeting the Basic Requirements for the position, you must meet the minimum qualifications for the position as follows:Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.
Specialized experience is defined as: (1) Planning, directing, and conducting transportation systems studies and analysis, and (2) Applying professional civil engineering principles as a subject matter expert in structural engineering analyzing road bridges or similar such major physical structures.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
