Must be an US Citizen 1- Configuring and troubleshooting computers in the classrooms and testing office 2- Assist instructors on how to connect their technology to the current infrastructure 3- Recommend upgrades and other IT solutions to leadership 4- Take inventory of current IT-related products.
Specifics Responsible for daily maintenance and operation of all non-base network personal computers, multi-media projection systems, printers, internal servers, switches/routers, wireless services, sound systems, and other peripherals critical to proper function of Scott AFB Education & Training systems.
Responsible for all similar equipment connected to the base network for testing and classroom instructional purposes.
Install any new systems (software/hardware) as required by the Education & Training Section (ETS) Chief or designee.
Set up new computers and other information systems in a timely manner to support gradual improvement of the facility.
Daily inspect working condition of all classroom technology i.
e.
Computers, Internet Access, Projectors, Smart Board Technology, TV's, DVD players, etc.
Troubleshoot and resolves problems, initiates corrective actions, and notify Section Chief or designee, in writing weekly, of unresolved issues.
As requested, assists instructors with computer-related issues such as computer access, log-on accounts and passwords, trouble-shooting equipment and software problems.
Develop and maintain an electronic spreadsheet, including building number, room number, description, serial number, and model number for all classroom and testing room equipment, to include but not limited to, desktops, laptops, projectors, smartboard equipment, multi-media display boards, and printers.
Provide current and accurate spreadsheet electronically to ETS Chief NLT 5 days after the end of each month.
As requested, assist the Information Technology Equipment Custodian (ITEC) with monthly, quarterly, and annual equipment inventories.
Develop tracking and filing system to monitor all information systems status and any required documentation (i.
e.
warranty or instruction manual information).
Establish diagram of facility with associated spreadsheet to track working condition/installation of computer and classroom technology.
Identify issues that need immediate attention, work in progress, fixes, and estimated completion timelines.
Provide detailed report with status on all equipment items and maintenance/troubleshooting activities to ETS Chief NLT 5 days after the end of each month, and as requested with 3 days' notice.
Weekly, conduct computer virus scans and upload virus protection software on all classroom and testing room computers.
As requested, provide daily assistance with starting and logging in non-network computers in testing area.
In addition, assist testers with any issues with login or passwords needed to initiate computer-based testing.
Set up and maintain computer desktop logins for the classroom computers.
Act as a focal point for classroom user issues and resolve hardware/software problems.
Maintain and upon request, install/upgrade current network system in testing room.
Provide all networking architecture recommendations and support to improve network as directed by the ETS Chief or designee.
Assist office purchase card holder with identifying and ordering recommended equipment.
Research option for wireless networking system in the testing rooms.
Provide recommendations with special emphasis on testing security issues.
Set up and maintain wireless network system.
Establish procedures for safeguarding all critical data, priority or emphasis on testing services.
Assist with setup and monitoring working condition of Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
Research and provide recommendations for updating or replacing aging equipment, to include detailed product specification and assisting office purchase card holder with identifying and ordering compatible equipment.
Design back-up methodology to guarantee uninterrupted services.
Load, configure, and troubleshoot systems applications software releases and commercial off-the-shelf software.
Provide for safe migration of important data from one system to another.
Install and upgrade software as needed.
Conduct upgrades to databases or classroom software technology.
Provide training to users, as requested.
Assist ETS Chief or designee in research and purchase of all information systems and components needed to improve existing technology.
Provide detailed recommendations and equipment specification to ETS Chief and assist office purchase cardholder with selecting and purchasing compatible equipment.
Maintains an effective liaison with the various users to facilitate systems planning, application, and problem resolution.
Conducts ongoing communication regarding computer and technology needs from section staff, night monitor, college staff, professional educators, and students.
Supports life-cycle management of PCs and servers associated with Education and Training Center classroom and testing computers.
Ensure hardware/software compatibility.
Evaluate the impact of evolving technology on the organization's ability to complete its mission.
Perform any other critical system support as requested by the ETS Chief or Designee for successful operation of the section technology program.
As requested, assist with scheduling and conducting Satellite Broadcast Courses.
Utilize the Distance Learning Guide or Government Education and Training Network (GETN) schedule to determine available broadcast.
Coordinate with the appropriate training provider to obtain a slot on the ATN downlink.
Notify unit(s) when scheduled downlink is confirmed.
Obtain names of students from unit(s) and reserve the training room for the scheduled broadcast.
Monitor the ATN classroom periodically during the broadcast and will be available to assist with any technical problems that may exist.
The DLA will videotape each broadcast and retain the most recent videotape for each course in the library.
